RISE is a collaborative effort to develop Hawaiʻi’s green workforce and implement a variety of sustainability projects across the state, innovatively addressing two paramount needs for Hawaiʻi: local job creation and sustainable development. RISE works with private, public, and non-profit partners to develop high-paying fellowship opportunities for higher-education students and graduates seeking professional experience in the sustainability sector. RISE manages the hiring, HR, technical skills trainings, and the mentoring of fellows throughout the process to ensure the successful execution of our partner’s projects. RISE also compliments these fellowships with its sustainability seminar series (S3), which links fellows with the intellectual and community networks they need to grow their knowledge base and build their careers. ..The friendships and connections one forms in the RISE program become part of one’s extended family...Most of us are fairly new to the green jobs field… and have helped each other through difficult decisions within and outside of RISE...I would like to say that the RISE program has connected me with some of the finest people this field has to offer. I truly feel a debt of gratitude to the program and leaders for all that they have given and taught me.
